Green Connections 2019

November 21st (8am - 5pm)

We are excited to announce that Green Connections 2019 will be co-located with BlueTech Week 2019 for the very first time! Green Connections will be taking place on Thursday, November 21 on the 2nd floor of the Sheraton Bay Tower Hotel & Marina. Thursday registration to the BTW2019 BlueTech Summit & Tech Expo includes registration to GC2019.

This year’s theme: UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Clusters & the Triple Helix

The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted in 2015 with 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. Of particular note for BTW2019 are:

SDG6: Clean Water & Sanitation
SDG7: Affordable & Clean Energy
SDG14: Life below Water
SDG17: Partnerships for the Goals

BlueTech Week is all about the companies and the people driving the sustainable Blue Economy. It's the annual event where hundreds of senior international participants gather in San Diego to highlight collaboration and innovation in sustainable ocean and water technologies and the entrepreneurs making it happen.

We are expecting 700+ attendees from 18-20 countries including representatives of 150+ companies and investment groups and 45-50 tabletop exhibitors showing innovative BlueTech technologies and services at BTW2019.

BTW2019 includes a 2-day Tech Expo as part of the BlueTech Summit, on Wednesday, November 20th and Thursday, November 21st. BlueTech Week is not a trade show, but the tech expo provides an opportunity for 40-50 table-top exhibitors to showcase their organization during breaks, lunches and networking sessions among key participants.

BTW2019 will offer a variety of tracks focused on UN Decade of Ocean Science; Aquaculture/BioMarine; Offshore Renewable Energy; Security, Defense and Robotics; Smart Ports, Smart Tranportation and Ocean Protection; Water/Wastewater Technologies; and Workforce Development.

The UN Water Action Decade (2018-2028) and the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) were adopted to mobilize the scientific community, policy-makers, business and civil society around a program of joint research and technological innovation.

Cluster organizations are all about partnerships...and have a critical role to play in promoting collaboration across the Triple Helix (academia/education, industry and policy makers) region-by-region, country-by-country. Our mission is to "Promote Sustainable, Science-Based Ocean & Water Industries", so the 2019 theme is core to our function and timely given the overlapping UN ocean and water decades. We call on clusters, educators, government and innovators to join us todiscuss education, technology solutions, and international collaboration to help achieve these SDGs.
